Cynthia J. Davenport, Ph.D., has provided professional toxicology services to the pharmaceutical industry as an independent consultant since 2007. With more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, Dr. Davenport provides subject-matter expertise/leadership to global drug development/project teams, formulates strategically integrated nonclinical development plans for exploratory (non-GLP compliant) and definitive (GLP compliant) studies and programs, and solicits bids from and guides selection of Contract Research Organizations (CRO) for outsourced studies. Following study protocol preparation/finalization and the subsequent execution/monitoring of nonclinical studies, Dr. Davenport reviews, interprets, and integrates study data into reports for regulatory submission. Cynthia also provides high-quality preparation, editing, and/or review of submission-ready nonclinical safety summaries and study reports, Investigator Brochures (IB), formal presentations, expert report/white papers, label updates, etc. Due diligence services and expert witness testimony can also be provided.
In addition to consulting, Dr. Davenport’s background is legacy Pfizer, USA (Groton, CT and La Jolla, CA). In addition, she was mentor/liaison to senior staff and executive site management for the preclinical drug development of 2 compounds at Pfizer, Taketoyo, Japan. During her 16+ years at Pfizer, Dr. Davenport worked in the global Drug Safety Research and Development, Project Management, and Safety and Risk Management departments. Her area of professional expertise relates to regulatory toxicology as applied to the development of novel small molecule therapeutics (human and veterinary). Cynthia holds a Ph.D. degree in Experimental Pathology from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical School. In addition, she completed 2 postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University Medical School (Palo Alto, CA, USA) and the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology (now The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences; Research Triangle Park, NC, USA). She also holds a Master’s degree in Physiology (Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, USA).
